About Kate

I qualified as a Midwife in 1999 I then had two beautiful children and that's how my introduction to craniosacral therapy began. I had heard of the benefits of craniosacral therapy as a Midwife but experienced the benefits first hand when both my children had treatments, I was intrigued and in 2007 I qualified as a Craniosacral therapist.

I enjoy working with babies and I am in a very privileged position of having witnessed many births. To increase my craniosacral knowledge in this area I have attended a number of courses specifically focusing on the baby and the effects birth has on them.
In my experience colic, wind, reflux, unsettled or unhappy baby and sleep challenges can all be linked to events leading up to or during birth, even if the birth was thought to be straight forward. Each baby born has had an experience and had to make a transition from one world to another, this can often causes tightness and restrictions within the skull bones but also the muscles of the neck, back and shoulders plus tension in the diaphragm and abdomen. This discomfort can affect them in many ways including the above.

It is very common for babies who have experienced some degree of tightness or restriction to have breastfeeding challenges. I am also a qualified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and find that my knowledge in these two fields helps to support the baby and family through what can be a very difficult and stressful time.

I have experience and additional training working with adults with many different conditions. I really enjoy working with adults and I am constantly impressed at the difference this gentle but profound treatment can have.

In addition to the above I also work with Graham Kennedy www.enhancingthefuture.co.uk assisting on his birth dynamics courses and as a table assistant with the Institute of Craniosacral Studies www.craniosacralstudies.co.uk.
